THE WALRUS

I was born and raised in scorching Phoenix, AZ...but in fairness it was a dry heat...which I am sure explains a lot if you know me. I have been playing drums since age 5, no 4, no 3, no 2...I tell you, the story gets better each time it's told. Let's just say I have been playing since I was little and leave it at that. By age 7, I was sitting in and even covering gigs with a Jazz/Fusion band led by my father, an established pianist in the Phoenix area. But it wasn't until high school that I really took music seriously. And by serious, I mean I discovered Vinnie Colaiuta. It was the watershed moment when I was faced with the decision every musician or drummer faces: Am I serious about my instrument or should I just sell my axe and get a job. Well, I haven't totally decided yet, but I do still own my drums.

I attended the storied academic institution that is The Arizona State University, graduating in 1997 with a degree in Management. I played in several rock bands during and after college, including Honey Child, The Kenny Kohlmeier Explosion, Blue, The Passing of Lorell Holmes, Breadless Arts and Metamorphosis. It was in Metamorphosis where I first joined up with Dan Biederman, and while that band was deservedly short-lived, Dan and I had clearly made a connection.

Fast forward...I was just moving back to Phoenix March 2005 and looking for a gig when, as it turns out, Dan, Ben and Adrian were looking for a drummer. Now see, I would love to tell you that out of the dozens of guys that auditioned, they picked me. But actually, Adrian is my younger brother, so that was pretty much that.
